So each city is expected to complete the cur-rent selected projects during the current mission period of 5 years and develop new projects for the next mission period to con-tinue improving the core infra-structure and service delivery to citizens. It is also believed that the Smart City Mission will definite-ly serve as an example to the world and provide a proven roadmap for city moderniza-tion and improvise the city service delivery for its citizens.Budget Trajectory: Creating Enormous Opportunities In the coming next 10 years, the smart city initiative budget plans is going to create numerous opportu-nities for industries and infrastruc-ture, water, IT and more. And, to march with it, each city in India is at a different stage of development. There is no single answer as the challenges differ from cities to cities. In the current context, and clearly reviewing the current smart city pro-posals, the focus is seen on develop-ing the core infrastructure for 24X7 water supply, sewerage treatment, 24X7 electricity, public safety & se-curity, transportation infrastructure, etc. This all constitutes as the es-sential elements of a sustainable ur-ban environment in which economic growth can thrive. It's important that these cities leverage the technol-ogy that's readily available today to build strong resilient infrastructure. Most of the cities have created a well thought smart city proposal and now it's time to prioritize the high impact projects that have the most direct impact on quality of life and well-being of citizens.Keeping in account the concept of smart city and sharing economy as the central topics driven by urban-ization trends, particularly the eco-nomic situation, new technologies & innovation process, understanding the city's and city leaders' vision, as well as the challenges they are try-ing to solve; we share the global best practices and explain how Xylem has helped cities around the globe in ad-dressing similar the problem/chal-lenges;.
