AlixPartners Acquires Artium to Expand Agentic AI Consulting

Global consulting firm AlixPartners has acquired Artium, a Los Angeles-based software consulting firm specializing in agentic artificial intelligence, as consulting firms increasingly strengthen their capabilities in enterprise AI and technology transformation.

Announced on August 4, the acquisition combines Artium’s AI engineering expertise with AlixPartners’ 45 years of industry and consulting experience. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Artium will operate as a distinct team within AlixPartners under the name Artium by AlixPartners.

Artium specializes in building and launching enterprise-grade AI agents. Its client portfolio includes organizations such as BNY Mellon, Mayo Clinic and eBay, highlighting the growing demand for AI systems capable of performing complex business and operational tasks.

The acquisition is expected to strengthen AlixPartners’ ability to help organizations move beyond AI experimentation toward practical implementation. By combining Artium’s engineering capabilities with AlixPartners’ industry expertise, the firms aim to support clients in addressing business disruption, improving operations and identifying new opportunities through advanced AI technologies.

The deal also reflects a broader shift within the consulting industry. Rather than relying exclusively on traditional advisory services, major consulting firms are increasingly acquiring specialist technology companies to build deeper capabilities in artificial intelligence, data engineering and digital transformation.

All members of the Artium team will join AlixPartners, allowing the consulting firm to retain the specialist expertise that has supported Artium’s work in developing production-ready AI solutions.

The acquisition comes as businesses increasingly explore agentic AI—the use of AI systems that can plan, make decisions and execute tasks with greater autonomy. For consulting firms, this creates opportunities to move from advising clients on AI strategy to helping them design, deploy and scale AI-powered business processes.
