Coromandel International and Saudi Arabia's Ma'aden Inks Long-Term DAP Agreement

Coromandel International, India's leading agri-solutions provider, and Ma'aden, one of the world's largest phosphate fertilizer producers, have strengthened their long-standing partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the long-term supply of Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and NP/NPK (nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium) fertilisers.

Saud Al Tamimi, director of fertilizer sales commercial at Ma'aden's phosphate business unit, and Narayanan Vellayan, director of strategic sourcing at Coromandel International, signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Wednesday.

Over the years, Coromandel and Ma'aden have formed a strong partnership, with Ma'aden providing Coromandel with a consistent supply of ammonia. By guaranteeing a steady and sustainable supply of fertilizers to support Indian agriculture, the new agreement is a major step toward deepening this partnership. "DAP availability in India has been impacted in recent times due to global supply disruptions," Vellayan said during the event.

This strategic agreement with Ma'aden is a natural extension of our connection, allowing Coromandel to secure the timely provision of DAP and complex fertilisers to the Indian farming community. Coromandel, with its close ties to over 4.5 million farmers, remains committed to Indian agriculture, collaborating with Ma'aden as a reliable and sustainable partner."

Tamimi echoed similar comments, stating, "Ma'aden has been India's largest supplier of phosphate fertilisers for almost a decade. We are increasing our production capacity from 6 million tonnes to 9 million tonnes in the near future, demonstrating our commitment to meeting India's growing agricultural needs."

The signing ceremony was presided over by S Sankarasubramanian, managing director and CEO of Coromandel International, and Anas Al Bassam, senior vice-president - commercial, Ma'aden's phosphate business unit.

Both leaders emphasized the need to broaden the alliance beyond phosphates and raw materials, with a focus on collaboration in research andand specialty products to encourage sustainable farming methods.

Senior leaders from both Coromandel International and Ma'aden attended the ceremony, underscoring the firms' strong commitment to deepening their strategic collaboration and contributing to India's food security.
