The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hafele India to support startups in the manufacturing sector, the department announced on Thursday.

Under the agreement, Hafele, a key player in the furniture fittings industry, will drive initiatives focused on product innovation, local sourcing, and entrepreneurship. The company will offer strategic investments, mentorship, and integrate startups into its value chain. Additional support will include access to infrastructure, supplier development programs, technical collaborations, and enhanced market access for startups and MSMEs.

DPIIT will leverage its Startup India platform to facilitate ecosystem access, helping startups connect through events, co-branding opportunities, and support programs. “We aim to empower startups that are creating the next wave of globally competitive manufacturing capacities,” said Sumeet Kumar Jarangal, Director at DPIIT. Sanjiv, Joint Secretary of DPIIT, emphasized that the collaboration blends global best practices with India’s entrepreneurial energy, aligning with the government’s Make in India initiative.

The MoU was formally signed by Jarangal and Frank Schloeder, Managing Director - South Asia at Hafele India.
