Ecology Group has acquired Worcester-based Focus Environmental Consultants, strengthening its environmental consulting capabilities across the Midlands and adding specialist expertise in ecology, arboriculture and habitat management.
The acquisition marks another step in Ecology Group’s rapid expansion of its UK environmental consulting platform. The group, which was established in 2025, has been bringing together specialist consultancies with complementary capabilities to build a broader environmental and ecological services business.
Focus Environmental Consultants was founded in 2010 by Directors Graham Davison and Fern Fellowes-Day. Based in Worcester, Worcestershire, the company has developed a 16-year track record supporting clients across residential and commercial development, infrastructure, mineral extraction and conservation.
Its client base includes Barratt Homes, City of Wolverhampton, Birmingham City and Solihull Councils, Speller Metcalfe, Forestry England and Lovell Strategic Land. The consultancy provides specialist services covering ecology, arboriculture and habitat management.
The acquisition gives Ecology Group additional capabilities in a region where demand for environmental expertise continues to grow. Focus Environmental Consultants has worked on projects involving biodiversity, habitat creation, ecological assessments and planning support.
One of its notable engagements has been its work as professional ecological adviser to West Midlands Safari Park, supporting the site's biodiversity ambitions and habitat management requirements.
The company has also worked with Speller Metcalfe on plans for a new community hospital in Cinderford, Gloucestershire. The project involved ecological considerations including hazel dormice, reptiles and nearby conservation areas associated with local bat populations.

Focus Environmental Consultants becomes another specialist consultancy within Ecology Group's growing portfolio. According to Ansor, Ecology Group has now welcomed six specialist consultancies during 2026, adding to its broader expansion since its launch.
The group's portfolio includes businesses with expertise across ecological services, environmental consultancy, landscape design, environmental and social due diligence, nature finance and geoenvironmental services.
The strategy is designed to combine specialist capabilities while allowing individual businesses to maintain their expertise and operating cultures.

Heyes added that the acquisition supports Ecology Group's ambition to provide end-to-end environmental solutions for sectors including house building and local authorities.
The deal also expands the group's workforce and technical coverage. Ansor said the businesses brought together under Ecology Group have a combined headcount of nearly 300 specialists.
Ecology Group's acquisition strategy reflects a wider trend in the environmental consulting market, where specialist expertise is increasingly being combined into larger platforms capable of serving clients across multiple areas.
