GE Vernova to Invest ₹140 Crore in India to Boost Power Grid Technology

By Global Consultants Review Team Thursday, 15 May 2025

GE Vernova, a global leader in energy solutions, is investing ₹140 crore in India to expand its operations and support the country's growing shift to clean energy. The investment, made through its Indian arm GE Vernova T&D India Limited, will help develop advanced power grid technologies and increase exports.

The company will set up a new production line at its Pallavaram, Chennai facility and build a modern engineering and testing lab in Noida. The Chennai plant, expected to be ready by early 2027, will produce key parts for High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) and Flexible Alternating Current Transmission Systems (FACTS). These technologies help power grids work better, reduce electricity loss, and handle renewable energy like solar and wind. The Noida lab, opening by late 2025, will design and test power systems to make sure they perform well in real-world conditions.

“India is a key part of our global growth plans. As the country’s energy needs grow and more renewables come online, strong and smart infrastructure is essential,” said Johan Bindele, Vice President of Grid Systems Integration at GE Vernova. Sandeep Zanzaria, Managing Director and CEO of GE Vernova T&D India, said, “This investment will help us deliver clean and reliable technologies that move electricity efficiently over long distances.”

This move supports GE Vernova’s ‘Asia for Asia’ strategy and is part of its larger global investment plan of USD 4 billion by 2028. It also aligns with India’s “Make in India” push and its renewable energy goals. GE Vernova T&D India already runs five factories and has been supporting India’s power sector for over 100 years. Following the announcement, the company’s stock rose nearly 5%.

With this investment, GE Vernova shows its strong commitment to helping India lead in clean energy while also meeting energy needs around the world.
