In a major step towards enhancing bilateral relations, the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kuwait-based Gulf Consult in Mumbai. The agreement aims to boost trade, cultural exchange, and financial cooperation between India and Kuwait.

The MoU was signed in the presence of key representatives from both sides, including Qaiser Shakir, Director and CFO of Gulf Consult. Speaking on the occasion, Shakir described the moment as a proud milestone. “We represent the Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC), Kuwait, and are committed to promoting trade, culture, and financial ties between the two nations. This MoU with the Indian Chamber of Commerce marks a significant step forward”, he said.

Shakir emphasized the shared mission of both organizations, to foster business collaboration and cultural exchange. He expressed optimism that the MoU would facilitate mutual visits, idea-sharing, and business partnerships, inviting Indian companies and ICC delegations to explore opportunities in Kuwait.

Highlighting the strong historical ties between India and Kuwait, Shakir praised the Indian community’s contributions to Kuwait’s development and acknowledged the country's consistent support for Indian professionals and entrepreneurs.

The Indian Business and Professional Council Kuwait (IBPC), established in 2001 under the patronage of the Indian Ambassador to Kuwait, plays a key role in strengthening Indo-Kuwaiti economic relations. As a non-profit, voluntary organization, it consists of prominent Indian expatriates and has successfully built connections with major Indian business chambers such as FICCI and CII, as well as the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

This MoU is expected to open new avenues for bilateral trade, attract investments, and deepen the longstanding partnership between India and Kuwait across multiple sectors.
