London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) has agreed to acquire Octus, a credit intelligence and financial data provider, for $3.535 billion in cash.
The acquisition is intended to strengthen LSEG’s position in credit markets and expand its data and analytics business.
Announced on October 22, 2026, the deal will combine Octus’ specialised credit intelligence with LSEG’s global financial data, analytics and distribution capabilities.
The transaction represents LSEG’s latest move to expand its presence in private credit and financial information services as financial institutions increasingly seek reliable data and technology-enabled insights.
Completion is expected in the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary conditions.
Founded in 2013 by Kent Collier, Octus provides intelligence, data and workflow solutions for credit markets. Its customers include investment banks, buy-side firms, law firms and advisory firms. The company specialises in private, illiquid and distressed credit, providing information that can be difficult to obtain from conventional financial data sources.
Octus has more than 900 employees, approximately 750 customers and over 40,000 individual users worldwide. Its platform converts complex financial documents, credit agreements, legal filings and other information into structured, searchable data that helps professionals assess risks and make investment decisions.
By bringing Octus into its business, LSEG aims to extend its existing fixed-income capabilities beyond liquid credit markets into private and less-liquid segments. The combined offering is expected to help customers identify investment opportunities, evaluate credit risks and manage portfolios through a more integrated platform.
"Combining Octus' leading proprietary data and intelligence with LSEG's data and analytics business creates a powerful offering for our customers, and further accelerates our growth.” - David Schwimmer, Chief Executive Officer of London Stock Exchange Group
Octus is expected to generate more than $300 million in revenue in 2026, with strong double-digit growth and an adjusted EBITDA margin of around 40%, according to the acquisition announcement.
LSEG expects the transaction to contribute immediately to organic revenue growth in its Data & Analytics division. The company anticipates the deal will be neutral to adjusted earnings per share in the first full year after completion and become accretive thereafter.
The acquisition will be financed through external debt. Following completion, Octus will become part of LSEG’s Data & Analytics division, while founder and Chief Executive Officer Kent Collier will continue leading the Octus business.
The acquisition also reflects the growing importance of proprietary financial information as artificial intelligence reshapes how investors and businesses access and analyse data. Octus’ specialised credit research and structured information could complement LSEG’s established financial data products and support the development of new AI-enabled analytical tools.
For LSEG, the deal offers an opportunity to broaden its customer reach and strengthen its position across public and private credit markets. For Octus, joining a global financial data group provides access to wider distribution and additional opportunities to develop its products.
The proposed acquisition marks another step in LSEG’s strategy to combine financial information, specialist intelligence and technology-driven services for customers across global markets.
