Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T), the engineering and construction giant, has secured a massive order from Adani Power Ltd to set up eight thermal power units, each with a capacity of 800 MW, totalling 6,400 MW. The project, worth over ₹15,000 crore, meets L&T’s criteria for an “ultra-mega” order.
The work will be carried out by L&T Energy – CarbonLite Solutions (LTECLS), a business arm within the L&T Group that focuses on advanced power and low-carbon solutions.
In its stock exchange filing on Monday, L&T said the contract includes the complete design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, and commissioning of Boiler-Turbine-Generator (BTG) packages, along with related mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
Subramanian Sarma, Deputy Managing Director & President of L&T, said the deal reinforces the company’s role in building India’s energy infrastructure at a time when demand for reliable and affordable power is rising.
Adani Power, India’s largest private thermal power producer with an installed capacity of over 18,000 MW, aims to meet the country’s growing base-load electricity needs through the project. The partnership between L&T and Adani reflects a shared commitment to high-efficiency, large-scale power generation, marking a major step in strengthening India’s energy supply network.
