MahaGenco Seeks Consultant for Green Hydrogen Plant

MahaGenco Renewable Energy Ltd has invited consultancy bids for a proposed Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia plant at Uran in Maharashtra’s Raigad district, creating a new opportunity for consulting and engineering firms with expertise in clean energy and project management.

The company’s Notice Inviting Tender covers consultancy services for the proposed project, including a pre-feasibility study, preparation of technical bid specifications, detailed design review and Project Management Consultancy (PMC).

The tender document identifies the project as a Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia facility to be developed at Uran.

 

Consultancy Scope Spans the Project Lifecycle

The assignment is designed to take the project from feasibility assessment through implementation. The selected consultant will be responsible for evaluating the technical and commercial feasibility of the proposed facility and recommending an appropriate project configuration.

The initial proposed Green Hydrogen production capacity is 2 KTPA. The consultant will also assess the maximum feasible capacity that can be accommodated at the available site and examine the possibility of integrating Green Ammonia production.

The scope includes assessment of renewable-energy requirements, water availability, grid connectivity, land utilisation and other infrastructure requirements. Consultants will also be expected to evaluate suitable hydrogen-production technologies and conduct techno-commercial comparisons.

Environmental and social considerations will form part of the assessment, along with safety requirements and other technical parameters necessary for developing a large-scale hydrogen facility.

From Feasibility to Project Management

MahaGenco is looking for a consultant that can support the project beyond an initial feasibility study.

The selected firm will be required to prepare a bankable Detailed Project Report (DPR) and develop an implementation roadmap for the proposed project. It will also assist with the preparation of EPC tender specifications and evaluation of bids.

The consultancy will subsequently extend into project-management support and monitoring during implementation. Tripathi's statement was made in the context of India's broader green-ammonia programme and was not a comment specifically on the MahaGenco Uran tender. However, it highlights the wider movement of green-ammonia projects from tendering and contracting toward construction.

According to S&P Global, Tripathi said India's renewable-ammonia capacity auctioned so far was progressing toward production, with the first auction covering around 724,000 metric tonnes per year. SECI has also proposed another auction for 1 million metric tonnes per year of renewable ammonia.
