Moderate Global Growth Is Driven by Asia's Travel Boom

The performance of the travel sector improved marginally, according to the Skift Travel Health Index for January 2025, which was at 102, a 2% improvement over the previous year. In 2024, the tourism sector created new post-pandemic standards, making it a historic year. With a moderate increase in total travel performance through 2025, we expect this trend to continue.

With a 6% increase in travel performance in January 2025, the Asia-Pacific area stands out as the index leader. Since last year, the area has continuously topped the Travel Health Index, a pattern that our data partner Amadeus has confirmed.

'Asia Uplift' is a top trend for this year, according to its recently released Travel Trends 2025 study. In 2025, Asia is poised to re-establish itself as a premier travel destination, the report says.

The following are the main statistics influencing this trend:

Half of the world's air passenger increase over the next 15 years will come from the Asia-Pacific area. It is anticipated that the region's population will spend 35% of their worldwide leisure travel budget in 2025, up from 29% in 2023.

In 2025, Thailand anticipates 40 million foreign visitors, up from 36 million in 2024. Growth is being driven by robust domestic and intraregional travel. Growing consumer demand, lenient visa regulations, and well-planned tourism promotions are all playing a part.

The worldwide travel sector is expected to grow somewhat overall, according to the Skift Travel Health Index. 2025 is anticipated to be a year of steady success as the Asia-Pacific region is predicted to maintain its dominance while other markets exhibit modest year-over-year increases.
