Sam Altman: "Rare Positivity on X" as OpenAI's Image Tool Fuels Uplifting Posts

OpenAI's most recent image-generation feature has sparked a rare wave of positivity on X (formerly known as Twitter), with users sharing AI-generated images of family, friends, and even memes.

One user commented, "After a long time, I see positivity on X because people are sharing adorable photos of their family and loved ones. Thank you, Sam."

In response to the trend, OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, acknowledged the platform's typically negative atmosphere and expressed happiness at the temporary joy brought about by the new feature. He said: "This is generally a quite negative platform, so I am happy we were able to bring some joy temporarily."

The overwhelming demand, particularly for Studio Ghibli-style visuals, has put a significant strain on OpenAI's computing resources, with GPUs running at maximum capacity. In response, Altman appealed to X users, saying, "Can you please stop generating images? "This is insane; our team needs to sleep."

Brands are starting to use AI-generated images in their marketing campaigns, indicating the increasing demand for AI-driven creativity.

But copyright issues still exist. Renowned filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki, 84, has voiced concerns about artificial intelligence's role in animation. Miyazaki is known for his whimsical storytelling and hand-drawn animation. These problems have not yet been resolved by OpenAI.
