The Government of India has taken another significant step toward strengthening preventive and digital healthcare by supporting the development of next-generation indigenous health monitoring technology. In line with national priorities of affordable healthcare, medical device innovation, and research translation, the Technology Development Board (TDB) under the Department of Science & Technology (DST) has entered into an agreement with M/s Drstore Healthcare Service India Pvt. Ltd., Maharashtra, for a collaborative digital health R&D project.

Under this initiative, TDB has sanctioned grant assistance for the project titled “Multivital Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) Device with Cardiovascular Biomarkers for Early Detection of Heart Conditions alongside Diabetes Monitoring.” The project is being supported under the Indo-Canada Collaborative Industrial Research & Development Programme, a bilateral framework between the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, and Canada’s National Research Council (NRC) and Global Affairs Canada. The Indian industry partner is collaborating with the Canadian project lead, M/s Nanospeed Diagnostics Inc.

The project aims to integrate key cardio-metabolic biomarkers—such as B-type Natriuretic Peptide (BNP), Troponin-I, and high-sensitivity C-Reactive Protein (hs-CRP)—into continuous glucose monitoring systems. By leveraging the interstitial fluid analysis mechanism used in CGM devices, the technology seeks to enable continuous and simultaneous monitoring of glucose levels and early cardiovascular risk indicators. This integrated approach addresses the growing burden of co-morbidities, particularly diabetes-linked heart conditions.

The proposed technology is expected to facilitate early detection, remote monitoring, and preventive management of cardiovascular diseases, reducing reliance on episodic diagnostics and hospital-based care. It is particularly relevant for high-risk and chronic patients, supporting home-based and post-operative care models.

Founded in 2015, M/s Drstore Healthcare Service India Pvt. Ltd. focuses on preventive and remote healthcare solutions. With TDB support, the company aims to validate the technology’s feasibility and pave the way for commercialization of an integrated multivital health monitoring platform tailored to Indian healthcare needs.

Commenting on the initiative, TDB Secretary Sh. Rajesh Kumar Pathak emphasized that technology-driven preventive healthcare is essential for reducing long-term disease burden and that international collaborations help Indian industry build scalable, globally informed solutions.
