BCG Appoints Kanika Sharma to India HR Leadership

Boston Consulting Group (BCG) has brought Kanika Sharma back to the firm as India HR Manager, adding an experienced talent and recruitment professional to its India leadership structure. Sharma is also taking responsibility as Talent Acquisition & Contingent Workforce (CWR) India Lead, giving her a broader mandate across recruitment and workforce management. The appointment was reported on September 7, 2026.

Sharma’s return to BCG comes after nearly five years at Bain & Company, where she worked across campus recruitment, talent acquisition and HR. Her career has therefore included experience with two major global consulting firms, giving her exposure to different approaches to recruiting consultants, leadership talent and early-career professionals.

Sharma Returns With Consulting HR Experience

Sharma previously spent more than five years at BCG, beginning in 2016 as a Senior Specialist on the Campus Recruiting Team. Her earlier work at the firm gave her a foundation in identifying and attracting young talent, particularly through business-school recruitment. She later moved to Bain & Company, where she developed her responsibilities across talent acquisition and HR before returning to BCG.

At Bain, Sharma first worked as a Campus Recruitment Lead and subsequently moved into a broader Manager – Talent Acquisition & HR position. Her experience covered areas including campus hiring, leadership recruitment and HR management. This progression has now positioned her for a wider India HR role at BCG.

Her career has also included experience with Tech Mahindra, where she worked with the Global Leadership Acquisition & Development team and focused on business-school recruitment across India. Earlier, she began her professional career with EY as an Audit Associate, giving her experience outside the human-resources function before she moved into talent and recruitment.

Talent Acquisition Takes a Central Role

In her new position, Sharma’s responsibilities extend beyond traditional HR administration. Her LinkedIn profile identifies her as Talent Acquisition & Contingent Workforce (CWR) India Lead, indicating a focus on both attracting talent and managing workforce requirements involving contingent professionals.

This is particularly relevant for consulting businesses, where recruitment is closely linked to growth. Consulting firms need to maintain a steady pipeline of graduates, experienced consultants, specialists and leadership professionals while also adapting their workforce to changing client requirements. A senior HR function therefore plays an important role in connecting people strategy with business expansion.

Sharma’s previous experience in campus recruitment is also relevant to BCG’s ability to build early-career talent pipelines. Her work across BCG and Bain has exposed her to recruitment models at two leading consulting firms, while her broader HR responsibilities have given her experience beyond campus hiring.

A statement from Sharma from her earlier professional experience also reflects her approach to people management. While working at Vaco Binary Semantics, she described her work style as “Structured and supportive.”

That earlier statement is not a quote about her new BCG appointment, but it provides a verified insight into her professional approach and can be included without creating a fabricated statement about her latest role.

A Broader Leadership Role at BCG

Sharma’s return also represents a progression in her career. Her first BCG stint was focused largely on campus recruitment, while her latest position combines India HR leadership with talent acquisition and contingent workforce responsibilities. The move reflects the broader scope she has developed through her subsequent experience at Bain and other organisations.

For BCG, the appointment comes at a time when competition for consulting talent remains closely connected to firms’ ability to attract skilled professionals and maintain strong recruitment channels. HR leadership can influence how organisations identify candidates, develop hiring pipelines and respond to changing workforce needs.

The combination of Sharma’s previous BCG knowledge and her experience outside the firm could also help her approach the role with a broader perspective. Her nearly five years at Bain added experience in talent acquisition and HR, while her earlier BCG tenure gave her familiarity with the organisation and its recruitment environment.

What Sharma’s Appointment Means

The appointment gives Sharma responsibility across an important part of BCG’s India people strategy. Rather than being limited to recruitment, her role connects HR management, talent acquisition and contingent workforce planning.

For Sharma, the move marks a return to BCG at a more senior level of HR responsibility than her previous campus recruitment role. For BCG, it adds an experienced talent leader who has worked across major consulting firms and different stages of the recruitment lifecycle.

With her background spanning EY, Tech Mahindra, BCG and Bain & Company, Sharma brings experience across finance, leadership recruitment, campus hiring and human resources. Her return to BCG therefore represents both a new leadership responsibility and the next stage of a career built around talent and people strategy.
