Global IT Firms Lead Indian Rivals in AI Consulting

Global IT services companies are gaining an edge over several India-listed technology firms as demand shifts toward artificial intelligence, consulting and business transformation.

Accenture, Capgemini and Cognizant have reported stronger recent growth compared with major Indian IT companies, highlighting the increasing importance of AI and consulting-led services in the technology market.

According to data from Kotak Institutional Equities, Accenture recorded 3% revenue growth in local currency during the April-June quarter.

Capgemini reported 5.1% organic growth in constant currency, while Cognizant grew by around 3% on the same basis.

In comparison, the revenue-weighted constant-currency growth of TCS, Infosys, HCLTech and Wipro stood at 2.6% including acquisitions, while their organic growth was 1.6%.

AI and Consulting Drive Changing Demand

The performance comes as businesses increasingly move beyond traditional IT outsourcing and seek technology partners that can combine consulting, AI and implementation.

Companies are looking for support not only to deploy AI tools but also to identify suitable use cases, redesign processes, integrate new technology and measure business results.

This is giving consulting-led technology companies a growing role in major transformation projects. Cognizant Highlights the AI Value Gap

“As we enter 2026, our strategy is focused on solving the AI velocity gap, the gap between massive AI infrastructure spending in the past few years and business value realization for our clients.” -  Ravi Kumar S , Cognizant , CEO

The shift toward measurable AI outcomes could make consulting capabilities increasingly important as businesses evaluate their technology investments.

Indian IT Firms Face New Competition

The latest figures do not mean Indian IT companies are losing their competitive position. TCS, Infosys, HCLTech and Wipro continue to have extensive global operations and large technology delivery capabilities.

However, the changing demand environment is putting greater emphasis on consulting, AI, transformation and higher-value services.

Global firms with established consulting operations are positioned to benefit from this shift, while Indian IT companies are also expanding their AI and consulting capabilities.

AI Changes the Consulting Opportunity

AI is increasingly becoming part of broader business transformation rather than a standalone technology investment.

For companies, the challenge is no longer simply deciding whether to adopt AI. They must determine where it can create value, how existing processes need to change and how the results can be measured.

This is creating an expanding opportunity for consulting and technology firms that can connect AI implementation with business strategy.

The latest growth comparison therefore points to a broader change in the global IT-services market: AI and consulting are becoming increasingly important drivers of competition and growth.
