India’s 1,760+ GCCs Now Driving Global Transformation: Nasscom

India’s Global Capability Centres (GCCs) are evolving from traditional back-office hubs into key engines of global enterprise transformation, according to a new Nasscom report released on Monday.

The country now hosts over 1,760 GCCs, employing nearly 1.9 million professionals who power the digital operations of nearly half of the Fortune 500 companies. The report, developed by Nasscom in collaboration with Oliver Wyman and R Systems, highlights that India has become the preferred destination for almost 70% of new GCCs set up across Asia. This surge is driven by India’s deep talent pool, advanced tech ecosystem, strong service-provider partnerships, and growing focus on design-led innovation.

The report notes that the GCC model is entering a new phase — one that emphasizes innovation, agility, and enterprise value creation through deep partnerships. The next decade of digital growth, it says, will be shaped by collaboration between GCCs, service providers, and global headquarters, forming integrated ecosystems where innovation and execution go hand in hand.

Emerging engagement models such as Build-Operate-Transfer/Manage (B-O-X), joint ventures, and co-innovation partnerships are redefining how global enterprises drive transformation at scale. GCCs are now expected to own innovation pipelines, contribute directly to P&L outcomes, and deliver measurable business impact amid the rise of AI-native enterprises.

To thrive in this environment, Nasscom outlines five key success pillars for next-gen GCCs: a shared enterprise vision, operational excellence, resilient governance, magnetic talent, and technology-led innovation.

For service providers, the shift demands deeper collaboration, specialized capabilities, and refined operating models, enabling them to become true lifecycle partners delivering sustained enterprise value.
