On the occasion of his 75th birthday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch a major nationwide health and nutrition initiative — the “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan” along with the 8th edition of Poshan Maah on September 17.
This large-scale campaign aims to transform the health landscape for women and children across India and is being hailed as the biggest ever mass movement focused on women's and children's health.
Jointly spearheaded by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Women and Child Development, the initiative will see over one lakh health camps set up throughout the country. Daily health check-ups will be conducted at government health facilities, offering women access to comprehensive screenings and healthcare services.
The campaign will prioritize the prevention and management of non-communicable diseases, cancer, anemia, tuberculosis, sickle cell disease, and maternal health. In addition to check-ups, women will receive health counseling and awareness sessions, promoting early detection and prevention of illnesses. This initiative follows a Whole-of-Government and Whole-of-Society approach, bringing together the efforts of the Central and State Governments, civil society, and multiple ministries.
The underlying message is clear - a healthy woman is the foundation of a strong family and a strong nation. By empowering women through better health, the government aims to pave the way for a healthier, more resilient India.
