RITES Signs MoU with NHIDCL for Highway Consultancy

RITES(Rail India Technical and Economic Service) Limited, a multidisciplinary engineering and consultancy organization, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) to provide specialized consultancy and technical support for highway and infrastructure projects.

The agreement, signed on September 23, establishes a framework for RITES to support NHIDCL across the planning, development, construction and maintenance stages of projects, particularly in the North-East and other strategic areas of India.

The collaboration is focused on strengthening project planning, engineering standards, construction quality and safety.

Under the MoU, RITES will provide consultancy services covering several technical areas. These include preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for highways and tunnels, external technical audits, third-party quality assurance and structural health assessments of bridges and flyovers.

The scope also includes road safety audits, crash investigation and mitigation planning, slope stability studies, design services and Authority Engineering services for highway, tunnel and slope stability projects.

These services are intended to provide technical support across different stages of infrastructure development.

RITES has an established presence in transport and infrastructure consultancy. Its highway services include feasibility studies, transportation and traffic studies, construction supervision, project management, road safety audits, technical audits and third-party quality assurance.

Rahul Mithal, Chairman & Managing Director, RITES Limited, said: “We operate in consultancy in about 8 different sectors. The Airports, highways, buildings, metros, smart cities etc.”

He also said the company's domestic and international consultancy business was seeing healthy growth.

The new agreement adds another highway-focused engagement to RITES' consultancy activities. NHIDCL works on national highways and infrastructure projects, particularly in strategic and remote regions, making technical planning, safety assessments and engineering support important components of project delivery.

The partnership covers projects in the North-East and other strategic areas, where infrastructure development can support regional connectivity.

The companies said the framework is aimed at enabling the timely and efficient delivery of critical projects while strengthening engineering excellence and construction quality.

For RITES, the MoU further highlights its role as an engineering and consultancy partner in India's transport infrastructure sector. For NHIDCL, the arrangement provides access to specialized consultancy capabilities across highway, tunnel, bridge and related infrastructure projects.

The agreement therefore brings together RITES' transport consultancy expertise and NHIDCL's infrastructure development mandate, with the immediate focus on planning, engineering, quality, safety and project support for highways and strategic infrastructure.
