Wipro has appointed Dr. (H.C.) Anil Jain as Managing Partner and Head of its India Consulting Hub, strengthening the technology services company's consulting leadership as it continues to pursue a consulting-led and AI-powered growth strategy.
The appointment, announced on September 7, 2026, also makes Jain a member of Wipro's Consulting Executive Committee. His arrival comes as global businesses increasingly look to consulting and technology partners for support with artificial intelligence, digital transformation, operating-model changes and complex business transformation programmes.
Jain joins Wipro after nearly seven years at Accenture, where he held several senior leadership positions across strategy, consulting and industry transformation. With more than three decades of experience spanning consulting, telecommunications, consumer businesses, technology, operations and transformation, he brings a broad combination of strategic and operational expertise to his new role.
Before joining Wipro, Jain most recently served as Managing Director, CMT Market Lead – Americas and Cross-Industry GCC Strategy & Consulting Global Network at Accenture.
In that position, he led the Americas market for Accenture's Strategy & Consulting Global Network and was responsible for areas including growth, revenue and sales origination. He also provided leadership to approximately 1,000 management consultants.
Earlier, Jain served as Managing Director and Industry Strategy Lead within Accenture Strategy's Global Network, where he built and led an industry strategy team covering 19 industries.
His experience also includes work in the communications and media sector, where he helped bring together industry strategy, technology and transformation capabilities.
Jain's career extends beyond traditional consulting. Before his senior consulting roles, he held leadership positions at organisations including G4S India, Jio, Aircel, Bharti Airtel, Alghanim Industries and Electrolux Kelvinator.
At G4S India, he served as Director of Operations, overseeing operations involving a workforce of more than 100,000 personnel. At Jio, he held business and channel-sales leadership positions, while his earlier career included senior sales, marketing and product-management responsibilities.
This combination of consulting and operating experience could be particularly valuable as clients increasingly expect advisory firms to move beyond recommendations and help implement transformation programmes.
Jain's appointment fits into Wipro's broader strategy of combining consulting expertise with technology and artificial intelligence.
Wipro has increasingly positioned consulting as a central part of its approach to helping businesses navigate technological and organisational change. The company describes its model as AI-powered and consulting-led, with the objective of connecting strategic advice with technology implementation.
Wipro CEO and Managing Director Srinivas Pallia has previously highlighted the importance of this approach. Discussing the company's business strategy, Pallia said - “This evolution of our business lines will enable us to further sharpen our focus towards client needs with consulting-led and AI-powered solutions.”
The statement provides important context for Jain's appointment. His role is not simply about expanding a traditional consulting practice. It comes at a time when Wipro is seeking to integrate consulting, technology and AI more closely to deliver measurable business outcomes for clients.
Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing the consulting industry.
Businesses are moving beyond experimentation with generative AI and increasingly asking how the technology can improve revenue, productivity, customer experience and operating efficiency.
This is also changing what clients expect from consultants. Instead of receiving a strategy document and implementing it independently, companies increasingly want partners that can identify opportunities, design transformation programmes, implement technology and measure results.
Wipro's strategy reflects this shift.
Jain's background in strategy and consulting, combined with his experience in industry transformation, could help the company address this growing demand. His experience leading large consulting teams also gives him an understanding of how to build talent and scale advisory capabilities.
As Head of the India Consulting Hub, Jain will focus on strengthening Wipro's consulting capabilities and developing high-performing talent.
His responsibilities will also include improving collaboration across global markets and bringing consulting, technology and AI capabilities together to support client outcomes and business growth.
India has become a critical talent and delivery centre for global consulting and technology organisations. Consulting teams based in the country increasingly support clients across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and other markets.
For Wipro, strengthening the leadership of its India Consulting Hub could therefore have implications beyond the domestic market.
The hub can serve as an important source of consulting talent, industry expertise and technology capabilities for Wipro's global client base.
One of the biggest changes taking place across consulting is the growing focus on measurable outcomes.
Clients want consulting engagements to produce tangible improvements rather than simply provide recommendations. This means consultants increasingly need to understand technology implementation, business operations, data, AI and organisational change.
Jain's career reflects this broader definition of consulting.
His experience across telecommunications, consumer businesses, operations, technology and strategy gives him exposure to different parts of the business transformation process.
That experience could help Wipro strengthen its ability to connect strategic advice with practical execution.
The appointment also signals the continuing importance of consulting within Wipro's growth ambitions.
Technology services companies face pressure to differentiate themselves as traditional IT services become increasingly automated and clients demand greater value from technology spending.
Consulting provides an opportunity to move higher up the value chain by becoming involved earlier in clients' strategic decisions.
By combining consulting with AI and technology implementation, Wipro can position itself as a partner that supports clients across the full transformation journey.
Jain's appointment comes at an important moment in that evolution.
With his experience at Accenture and across multiple industries, he brings knowledge of global consulting markets as well as practical business operations. His leadership could help Wipro develop consulting talent, deepen industry expertise and strengthen collaboration between advisory and technology teams.
The appointment of Anil Jain represents another step in Wipro's effort to strengthen its consulting-led and AI-powered business model.
As enterprises accelerate investments in artificial intelligence and digital transformation, the role of consultants is changing. Clients increasingly expect advisors to understand both the strategic question and the technology required to execute the answer.
Jain's combination of consulting, strategy and operational experience puts him in a strong position to lead Wipro's India Consulting Hub through this transition.
His immediate mandate will focus on talent, collaboration and the integration of consulting, technology and AI capabilities. But the broader objective is clear: strengthening Wipro's ability to help global clients turn complex transformation strategies into measurable business results.
For India's consulting industry, the appointment also highlights the growing competition among major technology companies to build sophisticated consulting practices. As AI reshapes enterprise decision-making, leadership appointments such as Jain's demonstrate how closely consulting and technology are becoming intertwined.
Wipro's next phase of consulting growth will therefore depend not only on the strength of its technology capabilities, but also on its ability to combine those capabilities with strategic expertise, industry knowledge and strong consulting leadership.
